Keep Looking Young With Golf
by Billy Weston
http://www.verygolf.com
Apart from the social aspect, most of us play golf to take
exercise and to keep our bodies in trim. When we swing out
club the muscles throughout our bodies are exercised in a
powerful manner and the more powerful and accurate we can
make our swing the more the muscles in each area need to be
co-ordinated.
Many golfers think they can get away with little or no
exercise, but this is definitely not the case. As we get
older our postures aren't what they were and the right
exercises conducted in front of a mirror which allows us to
watch our backs and the positions of our legs will work
wonders for our posture both on and off the green. A good
posture will greatly affect how we're seen by others and
can easily make you look ten years younger.
We all tend to think that we're younger and more able than
perhaps we are so don't start on a program that you won't
be able to maintain because it's designed for a twenty year
old body builder! If you're concerned about either your
health or the program, talk it over with your doctor. We
can achieve much better results by being realistic and
listening to our bodies rather than by being a bull in a
china shop!
All health clubs see a huge rise in membership in January
each year as people commit to a healthy lifestyle but nine
times out of ten the enthusiasm doesn't last. Although we
make excuses; shortage of time etc. etc. etc. we basically
don't want to do it because it's not fun and it's plain
painful! You need to commit to toning yourself up and
really want to do it. Spend time visualising your perfect
swing (and body) and the powerful drives that you'll be
able to demonstrate. You will only be able to achieve these
if you are fit and healthy. It's nothing to do with being
vain; it's all to do with wanting a fit and healthy life in
which you enjoy a quality lifestyle into your old age.
You really need a trainer who you feel comfortable with
and who you feel will motivate you. It could be expensive,
but, what price is health and fitness? It will also make
your task much easier if you know which exercises to do for
improvement in a specific area. Tell your family and
friends that you're investing your finances and time in a
revitalised body, mind and swing. The more you can make of
it, the less you'll feel inclined to give up and be
humiliated!
As each year passes we tend to feel more and more stiff
when we start to play again after the winter. In addition,
our bodies become less flexible, many of us suffer from
arthritis and if we don't keep watching everything slips
(usually southwards and never for the better). The right
exercise program is therefore invaluable if you want to
take control of your game again (and you'll also improve
your stamina, you ability to concentrate in meetings and
the look of your body). It's well worth the investment!
